Cheryl Johnson is a visual arts student and an emerging Canberra artist. She primarily enjoys working with paper clay and assemblage to create colourful sculptural forms. Cheryl is inspired by the simple objects, colour, texture and a sense of whimsy.
Cheryl’s sculptural lamps are beautifully imperfect spheres of rich colour by day that become lacey spheres of light by night. No two lamps are the same.
The lamp shades are primarily made with paper mixed with a compound to create incredible texture. They are surprisingly light weight with a hard and durable surface. Each lamp takes approximately 2 weeks to harden and cure.
