Valerie Kirk - Woven tapestry, textiles and travel
+
Akie Haga - Flameworking glass, sculpture, wearables

Valerie Kirk is a tapestry weaver, textiles enthusiast and consummate traveler. As an artist, writer, teacher and public figure she has made a significant contribution to the contemporary field, forging valuable and tangible links within Australia and in the global field.

Akie Haga is a Canberra-based glass artist who values the high level of skill and unique artistic expression that characterises the art and craft of her native Japan. She utilises Flameworking techniques to melt glass rods with a table top torch, and sculpt and manipulate the molten glass.

Visitors will meet the artists, see their work and can enjoy conversations around ideas, design development and production of the work. The venue is a historic Tocumwal house in bohemian O'Connor with Valerie's work in the purpose built studio at the back and Akie's in the house. See samples and drawings, process works and finished pieces plus things that inspire us. Small affordable works, larger exhibition works and textiles from travels will be on display and for sale.
