Kyoko Hashimoto's work uses critical design theories to comment on design systems and production. Kyoko is interested in the history of objects, both personal and cultural histories that are enriched when objects are designed and used, as well as the geological histories of materials that go back millions of years. Kyoko's study looks at the concept of place-base making and focusses on native materials in the Sydney bio-region as a way to foster greater sensory connection to the land. Working thematically Kyoko's approach is tactile, intuitive and experimental.
