Marissa has undertaken residencies and mentorships in Australia, USA and UK, training under renowned gold and silversmiths. She has been the recipient of various grants and awards. Including The Helpmann Academy Fellowship and Arts South Australia’s Project Grant for ‘Bishopsland Retrospective Exhibition’ in the UK where she was awarded ‘Arts Society Award’ and gained international recognition, exhibiting at The Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, London’s The Goldsmiths’ Company and Netherland’s Zilver Museum.
Her work is shown regularly across Australia, the UK and most recently Europe. Maintaining the lineage of the craft of gold and silversmithing is a strong motivation of her practice.
Marissa’s work focuses on craftsmanship and function in jewellery and objects that explore the discourse of the human relationship with form, underpinned by her Australian upbringing. Her approach further investigates the dialogue that occurs between the maker and the material.
