Lia Tajcnar creates sculptural installations, vessels and jewelry. Her work is created in a experimental way using a diverse range of materials and technical processes.
Originally from Canada, Lia obtained a BFA in painting and then spent several years teaching English in Japan. During that time she became interested in ceramics and went on to get another BFA in ceramics at the Alberta College of Art and Design before moving to Australia where she undertook a Master of Philosophy in ceramics at the ANU.
Lia has always taken an active part in supporting and engaging with the arts community and has coordinated, implemented and participated in various art projects as well as teaching at the ANU. She has exhibited nationally and internationally, and had her work published in several international publications and books.
