Gerhard Herbst creates pieces that examine the jewelry medium as both object and image.

Beginning his jewelry interests at age fifteen, Gerhard continued on to study sculpture and jewelry design at San Diego State University. He subsequently developed a vibrant studio practice, and his work became popularly known for its spatial forms and fluid manipulations of metal.

Gerhard has exhibited and sold his work extensively throughout Australia and North America. His jewelry has featured at the American Craft Museum, The Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) and in museum shops at the Smithsonian Institute and the Los Angeles Museum of Art.
