Meet the maker: Egg Picnic
Canberra welcomes two new designers and birders to our community, Camila De Gregorio and Christopher Macaluso the creative minds behind Eggpicnic. In their Canberra-based design studio, the two designer-makers produce fine art prints and public art to end wildlife extinction through education.
Originally from Chile, Camila De Gregorio is a designer concerned with thought-provoking simplicity. Her creations boast clean lines and effective colours, conveying striking messages. Her process often starts with pen and paper, due to its immediacy and creative freedom. Gregorio creates work from her home studio with her partner, from designing new collections, illustrations to moulding and casting models for products.
Christopher Macaluso graduated from Industrial Design at the University of Technology Sydney in 2008, where he stayed to continue teaching design. His specialities include graphic design, illustration, art direction, web design and programming and product design. Much of his creative work has been developed in parallel with his passion for climate activism, reflected in his work with Bararida Zoo and Botanical Park (Venezuala) and non-profit organisations in Australia such as Palm Oil Investigations.
The work of Eggpicnic is rooted in nature, making exploration a part of their daily routine. Eggpicnic actively supports conservation programs within Australia with profits from their work donated to support scientific research.
